LoneMoon
first got their start on Soundcloud in 2013 with music inspired by the
electronic sounds of Deadmau5 and Madeon. Gospel, 80’s pop music, smooth
jazz and classical music from the radio was the environment from which
the first tracks surfaced. The beautiful cherry blossom trees of Atsugi,
Japan and the desert landscapes of Albuquerque, New Mexico, also
surrounded Moon’s origins. Typically, the beginnings of LoneMoon music
were characterized by an orchestral arrangement, a piano piece, or music
inspired by video games such as the Sonic and Nintendo games.
Moon’s
sound soon evolved into heavy electronic themes and it sparked a
collaboration with bass artist Chime. Moon then continued to progress
into the electronic realm with their remix of Greyson Chance’s track
“Hit & Run,” and their collaboration with Atura on “I Promise” was
the lead single from the album whereisluna;
which became a hallmark in the progression of the LoneMoon sound. After,
LoneMoon branched off to hip-hop, adding an EDM flavor to many tracks.
In
Oklahoma, LoneMoon built their musical presence by playing the
Backwoods Music Festival 2016, and opening for Yung Pinch in 2018. After
releasing Apollo 18 in 2016 to a relatively quiet response, LoneMoon released Forgiveness,
a compilation of music released in the years of 2015-2017. “Fall” would
be showcased as the lead single off the album and it garnered a massive
response on Soundcloud. Next up was their funky, yet smooth
collaboration with Who Came After & Neila, “Need U”, which was
released on Night Owl Collective in 2018.
Furthering their momentum, LoneMoon is back with their forthcoming new project, Better Luck Next Time, which will be released on 10-19-18. The concept of Better Luck Next Time is to present an illustration of the death of a part of my artistry/myself as a person” LoneMoon stated. “It's
a testament to leaving parts of me behind that publicly "defined" me in
the past- whether or not those attributes given to me by others were
true to me or not. Better Luck Next Time is (I
believe) my first completely self-produced venture; so it's an
extremely liberating point in my career. I'm ready to take my sound
where I want it to go. The artwork depicts my previous
public image dying and my previous self; soon to be replaced by the
future. I hope that the people that hear this project stick around to
experience it.”
Today, LoneMoon released the first single and visual from Better Luck Next Time with “Back To It” which was premiered by HipHopDx. An especially appealing visual artist, the “Back To It” visual was written by the main character Ace Blackberry. “We set out to entertain others. That's something I've struggled with all my life” LoneMoon candidly admits. “I
feel like I've pretended to be someone other than myself for a long
time; it was just so other people would accept me. I traveled to a small
town in Iowa to shoot the video, slept in my car for a week in freezing
weather to get all of the footage—and it was an amazing experience.
“Back To It” is about staying on track and not giving up, not falling
for any temptations- like hurting myself to entertain others, or
pretending to be someone else in order to please or satisfy those around
you.”
LoneMoon’s one wish is to share their art everywhere under our earth's beautiful satellite… soon to crash-land in Los Angeles. Better Luck Next Time will impact on 10-19-2018.
